Removable dentures
Full and partial dentures:
Full dentures: They are used when a patient has lost all their teeth in the upper or lower jaw. Full dentures consist of a gum-coloured plastic base to which artificial teeth are attached. These dentures give a natural appearance and improve the patient’s ability to eat and speak.
Partial dentures: These are used to replace one or more missing teeth while leaving some natural teeth in the mouth. Partial dentures consist of an acrylic or metal base to which the artificial teeth are attached, with clasps holding the existing natural teeth in place to secure the denture.
The advantages of removable dentures include easy cleaning and care, as well as lower costs compared to fixed dentures. However, they can take some time to get used to and may not offer the same level of stability and comfort as fixed dentures.
